Campus
Mokahum
is located on the Leech Lake Reservation in northern Minnesota. The
beautiful 30-acre wooded campus is situated just outside the town of
Cass Lake and is only a 15-minute drive from Bemidji, the regional
hub for education, entertainment, shopping, healthcare, and
recreation.
The
main administration building houses the staff offices, classroom,
library, three dorm rooms, laundry facilities, kitchen, and a
dining/lounge area with a fireplace. Additional living quarters for
students and staff are located in a cottage and larger house nearby.
Activities
An
outdoor basketball court and softball field are available to
students on campus, as well as a firepit that makes a good spot for
cookouts and worship times. We also provide opportunities to
practice traditional Native American skills like hunting, fishing,
beading, maple sugaring, and wild ricing. Students may participate
in intramural sports—including flag football, basketball, ultimate
Frisbee and floor hockey—at our sister school, Oak Hills Christian
College, located just outside Bemidji.
Community Life & Standards
Our
small enrollment and staff make Mokahum a close-knit community. All
students live on campus, sharing in meal preparation, cleaning, and
maintenance duties. Regular chapel services allow us to come
together in worship. Studying, praying, working, eating, and having
fun together give ample opportunities to form deep relationships
that will last a lifetime. These bonds are an integral part of the
discipleship process, as students encourage and help one another to
grow in their walk with Jesus Christ.
Mokahum’s three objectives of biblical education,
ministry training, and character formation are the foundation for
each student’s education and experience at Mokahum Ministry Center.
Our standard of conduct is based on the premise that all individuals
on our campus are committed to these objectives for themselves and
for other students.
We hold to the Bible as our authoritative guide for
faith and practice. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are responsible
for living in a way that reflects His character and priorities. At
Mokahum Ministry Center we are dedicated to coming alongside each
student and facilitating spiritual growth. We seek to encourage one
another to develop in Christlikeness, and we teach and confront in
love when necessary.
Complete information about community guidelines may
be found in the student handbook. |
